Our Flooring Services

Flooring services are a wonderful way to improve the look of your home without any huge costs.  Flooring comes in a variety of materials that can pull off amazing looks.  However, flooring is very versatile and some things should be considered when you are looking at flooring.

Flooring is what we walk on, in some cases, it will be exposed to heavy traffic.  In other cases, the traffic will be lighter, such as in a bedroom.  While flooring can be really resilient, there are other options that aren’t as resilient to heavy traffic.  For this reason, we have to keep in mind the traffic volume that your flooring will be seeing.  Also, keep in mind the level of moisture that it will come into contact with.  For example, the entryway to a home will most likely see more water from rain and such than that of the living room.  Bathrooms need flooring that is okay to be wet and around moisture for example.

Flooring Options

While looking for flooring, you will find that there are simply a ton of different options.  Some options even mimic others.  Such as vinyl can have a look of wood flooring. This is very common, in fact.  There are:

  • Laminate flooring
  • Hardwood flooring
  • Vinyl composition tile flooring
  • Linoleum flooring
  • Carpet
  • More

Let’s take a minute to look over these sorts of different flooring options.  Laminate flooring is less expensive flooring than hardwood but will give you that hardwood look.  It is easy to install and most of the time, once installed, it doesn’t need anything else.  While laminate flooring is a beautiful option, it isn’t always good around moisture.  You will need a special laminate flooring for bathrooms and entryways that are made for better moisture resistance.  Laminate flooring is great for heavy traffic and holds up and cleans up very well.  You simply have to keep in mind that the cracks are not sealed, so any spills need immediate attention.

Hardwood flooring and more.

Hardwood flooring is one of the oldest flooring options out there.  People, for whatever reason though, seem to like to cover it up with carpet.  We quite often will be at a job where we will peel back the carpet to only find a beautiful hardwood floor underneath.  Hardwood flooring is one of the more expensive flooring to put in new, but it will last for a long time.  However, it is how you get it finished that will determine what kind of traffic it can withstand.  If there is enough varnish on it, it will do well in entryways.  However, it is not a great choice for bathrooms.  The moisture can get into the wood and really cause some problems.

Vinyl Composition Tile Flooring is a flooring that is great for heavy traffic areas.  It is a stain and water-resistant so it would be good for entryways and bathrooms as well.  Vinyl composition tile flooring is one of the least expensive types of flooring.  So, you really cannot go wrong with this option.  However, some don’t like the look as much as they do some of the other options.

Other types of flooring for your home.

Linoleum flooring has been around for ages.  It has been engineered to withstand some of the toughest conditions.  Linoleum flooring is resistant to dirt, stains, and water.  it is one of the best options for bathroom flooring as it can withstand pools of water without issues.  If you have a kids’ bathroom, linoleum flooring is a great option.  It is also a good option for the kitchen too.  This is the type of flooring most of our grandmothers had in their kitchens and bathrooms that would last for years.  It comes in all kinds of designs, in modern days you can even get it to replicate tile or hardwood.  Linoleum is one of the least expensive options as far as materials and labor go.  It is simple to put down and easy to clean.

While these are some of the flooring options out there, of course, you have more.  Carpet for example is another great option and quite popular.  It doesn’t hold up under extreme traffic.  However, they have gotten better at the engineering of it.  Carpet is not a good option for entryways or bathrooms.  It is a horrible idea for bathrooms as the water will get trapped into the carpet and pad and start to cause mold and mildew.  However, it is very popular in bedrooms.
